Who We Are and What We're About
We’re a resident led group who want to make a difference in Dollis Valley now. We want to see more activities, events and opportunities in Dollis Valley for everyone. We want to make sure everyone’s needs are met and that the necessary funding is made available by working closely with a range of outside organisations. We always welcome new members and their ideas. Click here for details of how to join.
The Rainbow centre is now open every Thursday from 6.15pm-8.30pm to all young people from 11 to 18. It is hoped that a new permanent youth worker will be in post by the 1st of May. After that the centre will be open more often and have more activities run there. This Half term there will be a football coach doing skills training on the 15th and 16th February from 11.00am-5.00pm It is a free activity for 11 to 18 year olds. There are only 12 places available, so it is best to book to make sure you have a place by phoning on texting Rachele on 07921472993 Also during Half term on the 15th February the Rolling Base Bus will visit Dollis Valley in the afternoon, offering help with CV writing. The bus will be parked up outside the Rainbow Centre. Come and have a go. It’s free and you don’t need to book. A Drama/Video project will be run by the Education Theatre Trust for 13 to 15 year olds on Monday nights. Phone or text Rachele if interested.
The different social events we held last year were well attended and a lot of fun.
So far we have held 3 Kids Craft afternoons. At Kids Craft parents can come with their children and they can enjoy doing various craft activities with them.
At Bake and Make we had a go at making various seasonal crafts as well as mixing up Christmas puddings and tasty chocolate truffles.
We had 2 great Pink and Fluffy evenings where ladies came along and were pampered. Don’t miss the next one on February 7th
Lorraine Ramos a resident of Dollis Valley and member of the Dollis Valley Community Network is running in this year’s London Marathon to raise funds for the charity VICTA
She has been training very hard and has run several 10 kilometre runs already and hopes to do at least 2 half marathons by April. We wish her success and strength on the day. If you would like to sponsor Lorraine please contact her on 02084408276. She needs to raise £1000.- in sponsorship so every pound will help.
