Dollis Valley Community Network
2. Aims
• Dollis Valley Community Network will identify and promote activities that will enrich the lives of residents living in Dollis Valley, with the key focus on the needs of Dollis Valley Estate residents.
• It will play a key role in the wider regeneration of Dollis Valley, providing a means for the community to voice its needs and priorities, through community activities.
• The network aims to develop a community spirit, awareness and a feeling of mutual respect.
• The Network will identify gaps and overlap in services
• The Network will provide support for organisations and community groups
• Ultimately the network will become:
led by residents and community members
fully accountable to the community
independently funded and managed
representative of the community
3. Objectives
• To promote a range of neighbourhood activities which :
are well attended by local residents
reflect the diverse range of needs of the community
to identify organisations to deliver activities of the highest
quality
accessible to the widest possible cross section of the community
• To identify and support people and organisations, including voluntary groups, able to effectively deliver these activities.
• To identify barriers to participation in community activities and seek solutions to these barriers.
• To fundraise for the development of community activities.
4. Membership
There will be two classes of membership:
a) Full members
• Any resident of the Dollis Valley Estate, or the surrounding area, with an interest in activities delivered on or around the Estate.
• Any community organisation that represents residents on the Dollis Valley Estate and which is committed to the aims and objectives of the Network, in particular the key focus on meeting the needs of Estate residents; are eligible to become full members of the Dollis Valley Community Network
b) Associate members
• Any organisation with a stake in Dollis Valley through supplying services to residents
• Statutory agencies who support residents including Metropolitan Police, PCT, LBB
• Any organisation delivering community activities on or around the Dollis Valley Estate which are open to Dollis Valley residents;
• Elected members with an interest in Dollis Valley
c) Co-opted members
as agreed by the Dollis Valley Community Network
5. Officers
Officers of the Dollis Valley Community Network will be elected annually. These shall comprise of a
a) Chair
b) Secretary
c) Treasurer
The aim of the Dollis Valley Community Network will be that a minimum of two officer positions will be held by Community members.
6. Meetings and Minutes
Meetings of the Dollis Valley Community Network will take place on a monthly basis.
The Dollis Valley Community Network will provide a written and verbal report to the Dollis Valley Stakeholders Forum, and or the Neighbourhood Panel.
Minutes of the Dollis Valley Community Network will be made available to the community on demand.
Working groups and subgroups, created to respond to a particular theme or piece of work will report back to the Dollis Valley Community Network.
7. Amendments to Aims and Objectives
Once agreed, amendments to the aims and objectives can only be made by a formal proposal, which will be put to a vote of all registered full members. Membership of at least 3 months duration will be required for voting eligibility.
8. Finances
The Treasurer shall open and maintain a bank account in the name of Dollis Valley Community Network.
All money raised by or on behalf of the Dollis Valley Community Network will be used only to meet the aims and objectives of the organisation.
Cheque signatories on the account shall be the Chair, Secretary and Treasurer.
All cheques and instructions to the Dollis Valley Community Network will require two of the above signatures.
